Assigned At Birth

Refers to sex assigned at birth, where the person delivering the baby takes a quick look at the infant’s external genitalia and assigns them male or female. In some countries an assignment of intersex may be made but this is not allowed in Ireland, forcing parents of intersex infants to choose a sex for their child.
